Abstract
This study was to examine the effect of Group Art Psychotherapy based on Psychocybernetic Model of Art Therapy(PMAT) on ego-identity, interpersonal relationship, and self-expression for university students. 30 University students located in Seoul participated in the study. 15 of them were assigned to Experiment Group(EG) and another 15 students were assigned to Control Group(CG). The EG was provided with Group Art Psychotherapy based on PMAT which was structured into 4 phases proposed by Nucho(2003); twice a week for 8 weeks from September, 2015 to November, 2015. CG was not provided with any sessions. Both groups were evaluated by the Korean Self-Identity Scale, Relationship Change Scale(RCS), and Assertive Behavior Assessment Scale(ABAS) before and after the Group Art Psychotherapy intervention. The results indicated that EG showed a significant increase in Self-Identity Scores, RCS, and ABAS. The findings from this study are meaningful because the Group Art Psychotherapy based on the PMAT intervention helped university students adjust school-life and psychosocial development.
